SUSTAINABLE MUCH?

SEMPER Fashion will once again be producing the fashion and styling element for the Pacific Northwest’s largest trade show, and one of the largest sustainable lifestyle shows ANYWHERE- The Better Living Show 2012, 3/23-25/2012 from the Portland expo Center.

This year the keynote speaker is actress and activist Daryl Hannah, with Seattle based designer Lizzie Parker speaking on what sustainability really is.
An after party will be scheduled for Saturday night 3/24….more info TBA!

Last year we made $28,000.00 for our participating designers, and well over $50,000.00 for our participating sponsors.
NO ONE else within the Portland Fashion Show Production community can come close to these numbers. With 20,000 attendees and an average income of $80,000.00 means that this is the place to showcase sustainable fashions in Portland.

Daryl Hanna at The Better Living Show 2012

First it was Ed Begley Jr. of “Living with Ed” speaking on sustainable lifestyles and living in his down home and approachable manner. Then it was bone crushing, hard tackling Ovie Mugheli the NFL Pro-Bowl Fullback of the Atlanta Falcons bringing his sustainable message to kids and the masses along with world famous make-up artist to the stars and international fashion weeks Kristen Arnett, and now this year from the Main Stage of the Better Living Show 2012 is actress and activist Daryl Hanna showing green is beautiful, and explaining in depth how living green means living well!

Join us this year March 23-25,2012 from The Portland Expo Center as SEMPER Fashion once again (for our 5th year now) shows sustainable design, apparel, style, and fashion go hand in hand with helping the environment!

Rock the Runways 6 is in der haus!

SEMPER Fashion produced two events on one day in conjunction with Paul Mitchell the School Portland’s, ”Fest in the Square” from Pioneer Court House Square- featuring looks from Saffrona, 4ever Glamorous, and Eclexion Boutique with stellar styling from the “Future Professionals” of Paul Mitchell the School Portland AND Rock the Runways 6 from Club Barracuda!

Starting out the day at 10am, model call was for Paul Mitchell’s PDX campus on SW Broadway, where the upstairs styling room was packed wall to wall with models in varying stages of make up and hair prep. Then 2 pm from the bricks was the show!

Leading off were awesome chic looks from the Eclexion Boutique, followed by the sustainable chic styles of Northwest Designer Sarabeth Chambers and her uber gorgeous dresses and swimwear, 4ever Glamorous designer Julie Johnson and her upcycled beautiful club dresses, then followed by a closing salvo of dresses and accessories compliments of Eclexion Boutique.

The live music leading up to, and following the show, Hostess and M/C Malia, and the very happy and genuinely enthusiastic crowd of several hundred made SEMPER Fashion’s first outing in the Bricks since our Portland Fashion Week 2003 showing one we will always be proud of.

Our thanks to Paul Mitchell the School Portland, Saffrona, 4ever Glamorous, Eclexion Boutique, our models, their parents, our supporters, sponsors and the attendees!

Then just 3 hours later, Saffrona, 4ever Glamorous, Eclexion Boutique, Lioness Works, Shell’s Jewels, Nelli Millard Designs, Eco-under, MEWV Sustainables, and the only US appearance of Italian based Lumi Light LED glowing clubwear were back stage/down stairs and setting up in the Northwest’s largest Nightclub- Barracuda, for Portland’s biggest summer time fashionshow- Rock the Runways, now in our 6th year.

The crowd started off slowly unlike past RTR’s, but soon reached about 300 as the lights were dimmed, the spot was fire up, and the first showing by eclexion Boutique made its appearance to a custom musical cut by boutique owner Melissa.

Soon the music of Van Halen, Billy Idol, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Nickle Back and Queen was heard as the featured looks worn by some of Portland’s most beautiful models inclucing Miss Teen Oregon International Crystal Gregg and Katie Greiner AKA “Beer garden Girl” of the old Marconi Show wowed the crowd!  DJ Ka-os AKA Damien Rice worked his magic, keeping perfect time to the looks as they appeared. Back stage directors Morgan Lindberg who also modeled, Ashley Cross, and Michelle Culver and their dressers finalized details and got the models in their next sets of clothing, while Shelly Loring of Shell’s Jewels made sure everyone was perfectly accessorized.

After numerous candid paparazzi shots by photographer Mike Zaugg who has shot Fashion Weeks in Europe, as well as Vancouver native Mike Andrus- photographer for NY Fashion Week, we all snuck out to attend the top secret invite only after after party which was held at Eclexion Boutique and hosted by Melissa Joilene the owner. Great drinks flowed, noshables were consumed, networking was accomplished, great times were had, and lasting friendships made, while I for one made it home about 5 am.

A really cool side note, but not rare to SEMPER Fashion, was the attendance of a scout from Willemina NY who picked out male model Travis Howe for an upcoming campaign!

Thanks to our awesome sponsors Boothster, Stephen Vincent Jewelers, Eclexion Boutique, 4ever Glamorous, Nelli Millard, Concept Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and Rockstar Energy Drink!
